It happened just before midnight near the La Quinta Inn on Crescent Green Road.
The man said he was walking his dog when it fell down the 10 foot hole. As he was looking for it, he fell in as well.
Police said they had a hard time finding the man after he used his cell phone to call police. Officers blared their sirens until the man said he could hear them coming.
The unidentified man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
