Airport spokesman Bob Rogers confirmed that staff discovered an oil leak in the engine of American Airlines Flight 1645 soon after the flight departed at 8:12 a.m.
The plane landed safely 20 minutes after take-off.
No injuries were reported, and all 138 passengers were rebooked on other flights.
