The all-terrain vehicle the boy was riding in collided with a car on NC-561 and Reynolds Road in Franklin County.
Troopers said the ATV was traveling north on Reynolds Road when it ran a stop sign. A pickup truck traveling west on NC-561 struck the ATV.
All three passengers on the ATV were thrown, and 8-year-old Brennon Perry, of Warrenton, died from his injuries.
There's no word on the condition of the others involved in the accident.
Investigators said the 21-year-old driver of the ATV would be charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.
