Two women report being raped same day

FAYETTEVILLE

The first incident happened around 5 a.m. A 58-year-old woman reported that she was crossing the parking lot of the Department of Social Services building on Ramsey Street when a man in a car approached her and asked for a cigarette, then offered her a ride.

She said when she got in the car, the man pulled out a knife and forced her out of the vehicle.

At one point, the woman said she was able to break free and run away, but the suspect chased her down and sexually assaulted her.

The man then drove off in what police describe as a newer model, burgundy or dark blue, four-door sedan.

The woman described the man as African American with a medium skin tone, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with short hair, neatly trimmed long sideburns and a goatee.  He was reportedly wearing a white tank top, light colored blue jeans, and a black doo-rag.

The second incident was reported later in the day around 3 p.m.

A 37-year-old woman said she was stopped in her car on Bragg Boulevard between Pearl Street and Eutaw Shopping Center, when a man walked up to her vehicle and threatened her with a knife. She said he got in the car and forced her to drive to a nearby park where he sexually assaulted her in an wooded area. Afterwards, she said he ran away.

The suspecy was described as African American, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, 170-to-180 pounds, with shoulder-length dreadlocks.  He was wearing a long, green t-shirt and dark colored pants.

Anyone with information about either assault is asked to contact detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 433-1352 or Crime Stoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
