Daniel Brito was riding his bike on Powhattan Road in Clayton when he traveled into the path of a pick-up truck.
A preliminary investigation determined that the boy was trying to make a turn when he was hit.
The NC Highway Patrol also noted that alcohol and speed were not factors in the accident.
The driver of the pickup, 38-year-old Lester Mir, of Salerno Drive in Clayton, was not charged.
Brito's funeral will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Highway 70.
