Around 5 p.m. Thursday, Wake Forest Police were called about a shooting on West Chestnut Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 47-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The man was rushed to WakeMed, where he later died.
Authorities said an investigation revealed that he died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The man's name has not been released.
