Smoking ban up for vote in oceanfront town

Voters in Wrightsville Beach will have a chance to vote on a proposed smoking ban in November.

The town's board of alderman voted unanimously Thursday to put the ban to a vote.

The proposed ordinance says smoking will not only be banned at the oceanfront but also along shores and waterways.

If voters approved the ban, it would be the first of its kind on a North Carolina beach.
