Infant dies following Wake County crash

GARNER, N.C.

The accident happened just after 4 p.m. on Jones Sausage Road, near the former ConAgra plant.

Officials said 35-year-old Kimberly Davis, of Raleigh, was traveling south when she crossed the center line and collided with a white Volvo.

Nineteen-year-old Karen Martinez was driving the Volvo and had four passengers, including the baby.

Investigators said 8-month-old Casandra Gandarilla was not properly restrained.

The other occupants in Martinez' vehicle were 53-year-old Juan Guzman, 51-year-old Rosa Martinez, 4-year-old Brian Gandarilla.

Davis was the sole occupant of her car.

Jones Sausage Road was shut down for about two hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage.

Officials said charges are pending.
