Man who tried to kidnap UNC student sentenced

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.

Theodore Walker, 28, was arrested in May 2010. Authorities say he tried to grab a woman jogging along Columbia Street in Chapel Hill. She was rescued by two brother driving by who saw what was happening.

Walker, 27 pleaded guilty in February to assault on a female, second-degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury for hitting one of the brothers with his car.

He will spend about 19 months behind bars followed by five years probation with extensive mental health treatment.
