Arrest made in Raleigh's Good Samaritan murder

RALEIGH

The arrests stem from a bizarre incident that happened in January. It started with a home invasion on Wallingford Drive and then a car wreck on New Hope Road followed by murder.

Police said Herrera, who was apparently acting as a good Samaritan, was fatally stabbed following an altercation that ensued after a SUV crashed in the 4900 block of New Hope Road.

Police said that vehicle was the getaway car for two robbery suspects who had broken into a home just moments before the crash.

Two men were charged with the home invasion in June. Police later determined that the robbery was a separate incident unrelated to Herrera's death.

Herrera encountered two other unknown men at the car when a fight broke out and he was wounded. Herrera was taken to WakeMed, where he later died.

Rochelle and Gideon were taken to the Wake County Detention Center Friday and were being held without bond.
