Arrest made in weekend car vandalisms

DURHAM

People in Durham's Trinity Park community got a rude awakening after someone slashed the tires on 15 cars in a four block area early Sunday morning.

According to the incident report, several drivers have already shelled out hundreds of dollars to replace or fix their flat tires.

Monday, police arrested 18-year-old Taylor Cowan, of Durham, in connection with the incident.

It's unclear exactly why he went on a slashing spree.

ABC11 has learned a neighbor caught Cowan in the act around 3 a.m. Sunday. With the help of another man, they tried to grab Cowan.

The suspect then injured his arm during a struggle, ending up at a local hospital where authorities finally caught up with him.

Cowan is facing 15 counts of injury to personal property.

The suspect posted a $5,000 bond and is now out of jail. If convicted, he may end up having to pay for all those tires he's accused of slashing.
