Dozens of dogs rescued from alleged puppy mill

RALEIGH

The sheriff's office and the Humane Society said they found 100 to 120 dogs living in bad conditions without air conditioning at a home in Leland.  Authorities raided another house in New Hanover County and found 30 more dogs being abused.

Brunswick County sheriff's deputies arrested Amelia and Andrew Millis in connection with the operation.

The rescued dogs were sent to various SPCA shelters across the state, including Mecklenburg and Wake counties.
