BUTNER, N.C. --
Police say a Creedmoor man was killed Wednesday night when he was hit by a vehicle while walking on N.C. Highway 56 in front of a Butner restaurant. Investigators with Butner Public Safety said they found that Bobby Lawrence Newton had left Dio’s Sports Bar and Grill and walked into the path of oncoming traffic.
They said one driver was able to swerve to avoid Newton, but a vehicle behind hit him.
Officers reported that Newton had been consuming alcohol. No charges were filed against the driver.
