Police: Woman ransacked house before death

CLINTON, N.C.

Police were called to 69-year-old Peggy J. Faircloth's home on West Johnson Street last Thursday to check on her after her relatives said they were unable to get in touch with her.

When officers arrived, they discovered Faircloth's body inside her home.

Authorities said when her family went to check on her, they had to break into the house through a window and moved more furniture to get in, leading police to initially believe someone broke in.

Following an autopsy, authorities determined that Faircloth died of natural causes. They said it appeared she had a diabetic reaction, before ransacking her home and collapsing.

Further details about the incident have not been released at this time.
