Could it be the end of Twinkies?

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.

Workers across the country are on strike against an 8 percent across the board pay cut set for next year.

Hostess Merita Brands has already closed three bakeries since the strike started last week.

Liquidation of the company would result in about 18,000 workers losing their jobs -- including bakery employees in Rocky Mount. The union represents about 5,000 of the company's workers.

The iconic baking business has been trying to reorganize after filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January. The company just emerged from bankruptcy protection in 2009 after filing in 2004.
