Troopers said 35-year-old Roger McMillan was killed and two others injured in the crash on Old Oxford Highway near Snow Hill Road.
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m.
The Highway Patrol told ABC11 McMillan was trying to pass another vehicle when the crash happened. The two people were inside the other vehicle and were both taken to Duke Hospital.
Officials have not released their names.
