Officer Kelley Stewart was shot in the leg when a scuffle broke out during a traffic stop last month, and Carlos Riley Jr. faces charges.
Prosecutors claim that Riley shot Stewart.
In a letter sent to the SBI requesting an investigation, Riley's father claimed the officer shot himself in the leg.
Riley's father added that Stewart was driving an unmarked vehicle and wasn't in uniform at the time of the incident.
