Police: Brush fires set along I-40 in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C.

The fires were set in different locations all within a mile of each other along I-40 on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Officials told ABC11 they suspect arson because there was an accelerant used in the fires.

Witnesses told police they saw an older man in a black Toyota, but police do not have any suspects in custody.

Crews shut down lanes near Lake Wheeler, Hammond Road, and Gorman Street exits while they put out the fires.
