Residents weigh in on traffic calming efforts

RALEIGH

One project is on Glascock Street, near downtown Raleigh. The other is on Rainwater Road in North Raleigh.

Traffic calming calls for extension of sidewalks, which are called bulb-outs. They basically narrow the roadway by adding additional sidewalks and more landscaping. They could also add some roundabouts.

The residents along Glascock were in favor of the traffic calming project.

However, reaction was mixed from people living near Rainwater Road, which caused city council to ask the project manager to add stop signs instead for the time being.
