Deputies said three people were in the home in the 9000 block of Old Middlesex Road at the time of the shooting. Two were unhurt, but 41-year-old Portia Hinnant died at the scene.
Investigators said they had no suspects. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Nash County Sheriff's Office at (252) 459-4121.
