Short-lived tornado causes damage in NC

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C.

A survey team said the EF0 twister, packing winds of 65 to 85 miles per hour, is what destroyed an old two-story tobacco barn near the 2700 block of Old Beulah Road in Micro. Micro is about 8 miles northeast of Smithfield.

The man who owned the barn said the structure had survived two hurricanes before the storm hit just after 8 p.m.

The tornado also damaged several homes and a carport.

No injuries were reported.
