Rafael Delgado flew in from central Florida Sunday night and is hoping a judge will give his daughter Krystal Delgado a bond.
On March 6, Rafael was in Florida talking to his daughter on the phone.
"I spoke with my daughter that day. And speaking with her we were giving each other good news. She was excited - moving into another house the next day," Rafael Delgado said.
Just a couple hours later, Krystal's mother called to tell him that Krystal's boyfriend, Dorian Cunningham, was dead. Rafael was able to get his daughter back on the phone.
"She's crying still. She's very scared. She said it was an, she told me it was an accident," Rafael Delgado said.
Krystal Delgado told police her boyfriend tripped on a moving box and fell on a knife. Police didn't buy her story and charged her with Cunningham's murder.
The day after his death, ABC11 found out police had been called to the couple's apartment 12 times in the past year. Several neighbors and co-workers told ABC11 that Krystal Delgado was the victim of domestic violence.
Delgado said only once was he told there was a problem. He said he called his daughter, but she denied it.
"When you reported your story, that's when I started finding out some really bad news, there. Obviously I was kept from everything," Rafael Delgado said. "'No, there's nothing wrong, dad. There's nothing wrong. You don't need to come.' You know, obviously, you know, she didn't want there to be a problem."
Now Krystal's father is hearing of the couple's problems from people not only in North Carolina, but in Atlanta, where the couple lived before moving to Wake County.
When Rafael visited his daughter in jail Monday, he said it was all he could do to choke back the tears and remain strong. He thinks it's unfair his daughter is being held without bond.
"A person's guilty, a person's guilty, you know, but it's obvious what's happened here. My daughter does not belong in there. And me seeing her in there is not a good thing," Rafael Delgado said.
