Six sought in Rocky Mount mall shooting

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.

The shooting happened just before 7:30 p.m. on March 3, 2012 at the Golden East Crossing Mall.

When officers arrived, they found shell casings inside the mall and some businesses damaged. Police later learned the 13-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital with a graze wound.

Authorities said they believed the incident started as a confrontation between two groups of teens that escalated.

Over the weekend, police obtained warrants against 19-year-old Markelius Leon Chambers, 18-year-old Kevin Felix Romain, 17-year-old Travis Jamar Pope, 19-year-old Dominick Jermaine Parker, 18-year-old Jaquaan Raqueze Harris, and 17-year-old Nykeem Tayquan Odom on assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and inciting a riot charges.

Officers have arrested Chambers, Romain and Odom, but are still searching for Pope, Parker and Harris.
