Carlie Jason Tyler, 34, of Chicken Foot Road is charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury and assault on a female.
The woman, 39-year old Kimberly Denise Faulkner, is being treated for second-degree burns to her face, chest, arms and hands at UNC Hospitals Burn Center in Chapel Hill. She is currently in fair condition.
Tyler was being held without bond.
