Parents push to get students back in school following arrests

RALEIGH

The Coalition of Concerned Citizens for African-American children held a news conference Tuesday evening to address their concerns about the arrests and treatment of the students.

Video of the arrests showed officers roughly taking a student to the ground.

Group members laid out several demands for Wake County Schools including unbiased discipline and a stop to "police brutality."

However, they say their biggest concern is that the students are missing valuable prep time for final exams.
ABC11 reached out to the Wake County Public School System for comment. In a statement, it said:

"The wake county public school system is responsible for providing a safe and optimal learning environment for all students. To that end, we continually review all policies and practices that affect student learning and discipline."
