Crews respond to another water rescue on Cape Fear River

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C.

A group of six kayakers were on the Cape Fear River near the NC-217 bridge when two of the vessels overturned.

Everyone made it to shore on their own, but one kayak was lost, according to assistant fire chief John Wilkins.

There was also a water rescue Friday night on the Cape Fear River and that person was also located safely.

Back on May 13, two boaters got stuck on the Cape Fear River also near the NC-217 bridge and were also rescued without injury.

Recent rains have made the river run high and fast.
