Some concerned about condition of Ft. Bragg cemetery

FORT BRAGG, N.C.

John Czajkowski said he went to visit his father's grave and found bare spots in the grass, weeds overgrown and many graves without flags for Memorial Day.

He said the whole situation is a disgrace.

"The whole area has not been maintained. You have weeds growing a foot long. You have flags at less than half the graves. You have individual graves that are just bare," said Czajkowski.

For some, it's not a question of money, it's a question of dedication.

"All these soldiers are just forgotten out here, and I feel like we need to pay our respect in any way we can," said Amber Calloway. "Even if it's just putting a flower on there."

A base spokesman said sequestration budget cuts are to blame for conditions.
