Durham woman wanted in cell phone thefts

DURHAM, N.C.

Dormeca Ann Sutton, 28, of Lawson Street has been charged with eight counts of felony larceny and eight counts of possession of stolen property.

Police said the thefts all occurred between May 10 and May 24 in eastern Durham.

In most cases, the victim was walking down the street when a car with two or more occupants stopped the victim and a female in the car asked to use the phone to make an emergency call. Once the victim lent the female their phone, the suspects fled the scene.

In one case, the suspects grabbed the phone from the victim's hand and drove away.

Anyone with information on Sutton's whereabouts is asked to call Investigator Heim at (919) 560-4281, ext. 29121 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
