The North Carolina Highway Patrol is looking for the car that hit a man on a ramp for the U.S. 64 west by-pass on July 4.

The man - who has not been identified - was in critical condition.

The man was hit around 10:30 p.m. on the on-ramp from Smithfield Road. A witness said an older model green Honda swerved onto the shoulder before the impact.

The vehicle stopped for a moment, but then took off.

Troopers said it likely has heavy front end damage, no headlights, and a missing front bumper.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Raleigh State Highway Patrol Communication Center at (919)733-3861 or the Raleigh Troop C District State Highway Patrol office at (919)733-4400.
