It happened around 7:30 P.M. at a home on Wait Avenue in Wake Forest.
Police said 54 year-old Paul Baldree was assembling fireworks when they exploded.
Authorities said Baldree assembles fireworks for a living.
Baldree was taken to Wake Med for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
