The crash happened around 5:40 p.m. outside Ralph's grocery store on Eagle Rock Road in Wendell.
The State Highway Patrol says a woman was making a left into the store when she crossed into the path of the officer who was on his way to work.
Both drivers had minor injuries.
Eagle Rock Road was shut down for a short time while troopers investigated the crash.
The female driver was charged with failure to yield.
