'Crawleigh' construction to begin on I-40

RALEIGH

The first taste of the construction work start on I-40 near the Rock Quarry Road exit Monday.

Officials say drivers may find some lanes closed in both the east and westbound directions while they complete step one of the project. Crews will patch places, and then will ultimately repave the roads as part of the $130 million project.

Workers will work overnights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each morning. Work will start at exit 301 to exit 293.

DOT officials advise drivers to watch out for lane closures and slower speed limits, that could last for several months.
