Arrests made in Cumberland County break-ins

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C.

Police say 25-year old James DeJesus and his accomplice, 24-year old Alton Rowdell Steele, were apprehended late last week.

DeJesus is charged with transaction card theft and transaction card fraud after he attempted to make purchases with a credit card that was stolen from a parked car on Dalmatian Drive. DeJesus was seen on surveillance video using the card several stores and restaurants.

He was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.

Steele is charged with breaking and entering of motor vehicles, larceny and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. He is also charged with using a stolen credit card to make unauthorized purchases. Items allegedly taken by Steele came from a vehicle parked along Azure Drive in the Elk Run subdivision.  

Steele was released under a $2,500 bond.

Both incidents occurred between Aug. 26 and Aug. 29.

The investigation continues.
