Raleigh police seek suspect in 3 similar armed robberies

RALEIGH

The first incident happened at about 2 a.m. on Sept. 22. Police say two victims were walking on a sidewalk after parking in the 4800 block of Pleasant Valley Road when they were approached by the suspect, who was armed with a handgun. The male victim was assaulted and the suspect took a purse belonging to the female.

The second incident happened at about 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 22. Police say a female victim was approached when she got out of her vehicle after parking it in her apartment complex's parking lot in the 4300 block of Furman Hall.

The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, forced the victim back into her vehicle and ordered her to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash. He later ordered her out of the vehicle in the vicinity of the I-40 and Wade Avenue and drove away in the vehicle. The car was later located and several personal items were missing from inside.

Monday night around 10:30 p.m., a female victim was approached by an armed suspect as she was between her vehicle and her residence in the 1000 block of Collins Drive. She screamed, and when her husband opened a door to investigate, the suspect forced the female inside the house, held both victims at gunpoint, and stole money and jewelry from them.

The suspect then ordered them into their vehicle, demanded they drive to an ATM to remove cash, and then told them to go back to their residence, where he stole electronic items before ordering the victims back into the vehicle. They drove away again, but the suspect told the victims to get out of the vehicle a short distance away, and the suspect then drove away in it. The vehicle was located near the victims' home.

The suspect in the cases is described as a black male who stands about 6 feet tall and has a medium build. During the first two robberies he was wearing a black motorcycle helmet with a full-face shield, black motorcycle style jacket, black pants, black shoes, and black gloves. While committing the third crime, he wore all black except for an orange and yellow zip-up jacket with a turtle neck that covered much of his face.

Police say the crimes occurred in relatively close to one another. (Click here to see a map of the crime locations.)
