Peace Street lanes closed in Raleigh after truck hits bridge

Tractor-trailer gets wedged under train trestle - slowing the morning commute

Police said Thursday morning that a tractor-trailer truck hit the Peace Street railroad bridge and got wedged.

Both westbound lanes were closed, and only one eastbound lane was open, while workers unloaded the truck so it could be freed from the train trestle. Pictures from the scene showed boxes from the cargo spilling out onto the road after the top of the truck was ripped off by the impact.

It appeared the big rig was making a delivery for Pier One Imports.
