It happened on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Rock Quarry Road around 2:45 p.m.

The driver of the scooter, 20-year-old Ana Kessel, was rushed to WakeMed with serious injuries.

Police said a car driven by 23-year-old Michael Deontea Jones, hit Kessel's scooter and then fled the scene.
