Vance-Granville Community College locked down

HENDERSON, N.C.

Pictures from Chopper 11 showed police blocking entrances to the campus and officers walking around with weapons drawn. Sources told ABC11 the incident was related to a robbery in a campus parking lot.

The lockdown began at 11:30 a.m. and ended at 12:25 p.m.

Authorities have not announced whether the suspect has been caught.

Many people reached out to ABC11 on Facebook saying they were concerned because they got on campus unaware there was a lockdown until other students notified them.

Students say they are concerned about the schools safety measures.

The school cancelled all day classes Monday. Evening classes will be as scheduled.

School offiicials told ABC11 that they intend to make a statement Tuesday and share more information on exactly what happened.
