The student told police that the man entered her Lewis Residence Hall room on UNC's campus around 2:40 a.m. She said when she woke up, the suspect quickly fled.
The student said he did not appear to have a weapon. She was not injured.
The burglary prompted the university to issue an alert.
UNC Public Safety said they have arrested a suspect, but no further details have been released.
