JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. --
The Johnston County Sheriff's Office arrested 31-year-old Anthony Edward Messer Monday night. Police say he robbed and killed 62-year-old Billy Watson Strickland early Monday morning.
Strickland was found on the side of Hannah Creek Road near Stricklands Crossroads Road.
Messer has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree murder.
He is currently being held in the Johnston County Jail with no bond.
