RALEIGH, N.C.

The home was heavily damaged and rescue crews worked to revive a family dog, that did survive.

Five cats died in the fire.

Officials say the fire left three people displaced, and Leta Mae Strickland was transported to the burn center at UNC with burns to her hand. She was last listed in good condition.

Investigators suspect the blaze started near the family's clothes dryer. The exact cause has not yet been released.
