Police in Rocky Mount have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that injured four teenagers playing basketball on a church playground Monday.

Authorities said the teens were hurt when a gunman sprayed more than 15 bullets toward a crowd that was playing basketball behind the Word Tabernacle Church.

One of the victims, 12-year-old Nyreek Horne, remains in critical condition after being shot in the head. Three other males, ages 13, 17 and 19 - were all treated at a local hospital and released.

On Thursday, police charged 17-year-old Shyheim Collins with four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Further details surrounding the incident have not been released.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
