Michael Ray Norris, of Jefferson Davis Hwy, was arrested Thursday.
Detectives said they got a report that Norris contacted the child on the internet and made sexual advances.
A search of his home and computers uncovered child pornography and evidence of the conversation.
Norris is charged with felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, felony soliciting a child by computer and misdemeanor communicating threats.
Bond was set at $30,000.
