Moore County girl receives kidney transplant from church member

MOORE COUNTY, N.C.

Evie Wentz got a second chance thanks to the generosity of a family friend.

ABC11 first brought you Evie's story earlier this month.

Both Evie and kidney donor Jennifer Trapp are doing very well. Both are out of surgery and in recovery after Tuesday's operation.

Evie has been in out of the hospital with acute kidney failure. Doctors said she needed a kidney transplant. That's when fellow church member Trapp volunteered one of her kidneys.

Evie's dad told ABC11 that his daughter is back in her room with a second chance at life.

"Yeah, she is doing pretty well so far," said Tyler Wentz. "It's been a miraculous day for us so far. She is looking good".
