Authorities responded to the scene of the crash around 6:35 a.m. Saturday.
The accident occurred on Estes Drive Extension near Seawell School Road.
Police say 26-year-old Sergio Acero was transported to UNC Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The investigation is on going.
