Seven motorcycles involved in wreck on Highway 64

More than half a dozen motorcycles were involved in a wreck that shut down the eastbound lanes of Highway 64 Saturday afternoon.

The accident blocked Highway 64 between Edgemont Road and Lizard Lick Road for almost two hours.

The Highway Patrol says a group of about 60 motorcycles was heading eastbound when an item fell off a boat being towed. That set off a chain reaction crash.

Troopers say one rider was seriously hurt and rushed to WakeMed.
