Chapel Hill's Franklin Street shut down after crash

CHAPEL HILL

Around 2:30 a.m., Chapel Hill police were called to an accident on Franklin Street after a car collided with a utility pole and knocked it down.

The crash caused power lines to fall in the roadway and knocked out power to the area.

Due to the incident, authorities have blocked all lanes of Franklin Street from Boundary Street to Deming Road.

The area is not expected to reopen until Wednesday afternoon.

Utility crews are on scene working to restore power to the area.

Further details surrounding the crash have not been released.
