Pictures from the scene appeared to show a Dodge pickup truck rear-ended the bus.
In all, six people were injured -- five students and the bus driver. Four were taken to WakeMed North and two to WakeMed pediatrics. All injuries appeared to be minor.
Three additional students received medical attention at the scene but were not taken to the hospital.
School officials said there were about 24 students from Wake Early College of Health and Sciences High School on board.
