Three people arrested in shooting of 2 Spring Hope men

SPRING HOPE -- The Spring Hope Police Department announced Monday that four suspects have been identified and three arrests made in connection with a shooting into a home on May 12.

The following defendants were arrested and placed in the Nash County Jail under the specified bond.

Jamie Lynn Nye, 29, of the 40 block of Country Living Lane in Spring Hope, Telisha Knight, 25, of the 300 block of S. Ash St., Spring Hope, and Damadian Arrington, 19, of the 3800 block of Watson Seed Farm Road in Whitakers are all in custody.

A fourth suspect, Rashon Knight, 20, of the 1500 block of Harper Street in Rocky Mount, remains at large.

The arrests stem from a confrontation earlier May 12 between Nye and another person at a home in the 400 block of West Nash Street, police said. Nye returned to the residence several hours later with several other people. After an altercation between people in the car and residents of the home, up to 10 shots were fired from the car.

Two men walking out the front door of the residence were struck. Darien Coppedge, 21, was shot in his lower leg near his ankle. Trey Harris, 26, was shot in the upper thigh area. Both victims were treated at Wake Medical Hospital and released.

The three suspects in custody are being held at the Nash County Jail.

Nye is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, as well as previous charges of possession of a stolen firearm and discharging a firearm into occupied property. Her bond was set at $250,000 secured.

Knight is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and a previous charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. She is being held on a $75,000 secured bond.

Arrington is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and being detained under a $75,000 secured bond.

Knight is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and previous charges of assault and battery, soliciting for gang activity and outstanding warrant for probation violation.
