Baby found unconscious in swimming pool dies

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- An 18-month-old child found unconscious in a backyard swimming pool Friday in Cumberland County has died.

Deputies say the child, Lakendrick Johnson, was found unconscious in a pool in the 2800 block of Whisper Oak Drive around 2:45 p.m.

Officials said Lakendrick wandered out of his grandmother's house and fell into the pool.

The child was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died.

It is unclear if charges will be filed.
