Groups giving meals out to families in need
The Durham Rescue Mission and Lawrence BBQ are a couple of groups handing out meals on Wednesday.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Raleigh barbecue restaurant is giving back to the community ahead of Thanksgiving.

Lawrence BBQ in downtown Raleigh is giving away take home meals that include smoked turkey, Brunswick stew, stewed potatoes, ham hock green beans, cast-iron cornbread, and homemade peanut butter cookies.

Families who need a little help this Thanksgiving season should arrive at the parking lot of Killjoy at 116 N West Street.

The event is first come first serve and it begins at 11 a.m. Nov. 25.

If you're willing and able to step up and help others this season, consider being part of the ABC11 Together Food Drive.

This year there will not be a specific drop off day, but the food drive is still on! We're looking to raise 1.5 million meals by Dec. 9.

Here are the ways you can help.
